Pasta di pomodoro

Today we serve you a delicious pasta with fresh homemade pesto of black olives, sun-driedtomatoes and basil with poached chicken, tomato and green beans.

Pasta is a well-known dish that everyone knows. Where exactly the pasta comes from and by whom it was introduced has never been officially established. There are sources that claim that Marco Polo introduced pasta after a voyage from Asia, but there are also sources that claim the history of pasta dates back to the time of the Romans. The Romans considered the pasta a gift from the Gods. The name macaroni comes from 'maccarini', which in Italian means 'formed into a dough with force. This was done with the feet and not with the hands.

Around the 17th century, pasta was only eaten with olive oil or cheese, but in the middle of the 18th century tomato sauce was added to pasta for the first time in Naples. Whoever came up with thisidea changed the history of pasta as we know it.
